HTC One V Prepaid Android Phone Deals

By RJE -
This review is from: HTC One V Prepaid Android Phone (Virgin Mobile) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
My first cellphone company was cricket, who in my mind was an "ok" provider. I really did not want to pay 130 dollars a month for a fancy phone I don't use often so this company seemed like a good idea.
I got a new phone with cricket, my first smartphone ever, and it was awesome (again it was my first smartphone) I noticed, I only got 1 or 2 bars anywhere I went. When I called, they said I had to basically pay for a new phone... that wasn't happening. So after some researching, I found virgin mobile and their phones.
I really liked the reviews on this phone so I gave it a try.
Two months later and this is an awesome phone. It has yet to freeze up on me in the slightest way, the battery life is amazing. I'm a manager at a pizza chain, so I'm constantly making calls to drivers, customers, ect. And this phone can last the whole day.
I'm 19 so playing around on the internet is somewhat common (haha) , I can watch videos, download, upload, go on facebook in spare time, I can safely say 3G with this phone is another strong point.

Now my main problem with the other phone, reception.... I get six bars constantly with Virgin Mobile, I never have trouble calling people or sending/receiving texts.

I'm not a big camera user, but when I do take a picture the flash is a tad to bright at times. Other than that I see no issue.

Ive always had physical keyboards, so the switch to a touchscreen was difficult, but you'll get use to it after a couple days.

All in all, for $200 this cannot be beat, you get better service than other pre-paid providers, and you get a better phone than what other providers give you. Its a win-win.

Just for a bit of perspective, I've owned and used nothing but an iPhone (3G, 4, 4S) for my last few contract cycles; and they were great phones... but so is the HTC One V; and for 1/3 the cost.

Chances are if you're looking into purchasing this phone (or any new cell phone), it's not because of your need to change handsets, but your need/want to change CARRIERS. I feel for you; but as this is a review of the phone itself, I'll attempt to leave any carrier/service references to a minimum.

Two things caught my attention about the One V right off the bat: 1. Unlike most other Android phones it is not a 30lb death-brick that you must lug around in your pocket (forcing you to tighten your belt just keep your pants up), and 2. for what you get, the price is very very good.

The One-Series by HTC is their current "in" thing; and the One V is basically the little brother to the other phones in that series. With that being said, it has a few surprises up its sleave. The build quality of One V is extremely good. The back of the phone and the lower portion of the phone's front are actually metal, not plastic; this creates a phone surface that is very resistant to scratches, dings, and damage all-together. And the screen, from what I've read, is that new-fangled Gorilla Glass; or something similar and just as durable. All-in-all the phone's exterior is above-average for handsets in this price range.

Internally, too, it doesn't disappoint. The on-board Android version is 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and the phone's processor handles it quite well. The UI that comes standard is a dialed-back version of HTC Sense; a few less fancy animations and 5 (rather than 7) Home Screens for you to customize. This version of HTC Sense may seem less flashy, but keeps the phone running smoothly without issue.

And that, actually, transitions nicely into the only significant drawback to the One V: the processor power. The One V has a rather low-key processor; something in the area of a single-core 1GHz model. It gets the job done, but noticably struggles sometimes with the more-demanding apps.

The bottom line here is that the One V is a solidly-built phone for the everyday user. It lacks some of the "bells and whistles" that some power-users may desire, but this phone was not built for insane X-Box style graphics running simultaneously with 5 open internet sessions of Facebook full-site version. It is first-and-foremost a communication, internet, and audio-centered handset (Beats Audio, IMAP and Exchange mail built-in, good reception, etc.). And paired with Virgin's Unlimited Data and Unlimited Text plans, it becomes a very powerful tool for the everyday user; a tool that, because of the hardware quality, will last that user a very long time.

I was worried when I saw all the reviews about the battery and how it wouldn't fully charge. When I got it, the first day I allowed it to charge over night and I was bummed to find out that the battery didnt fully charge. But luckily just two days after recieving the phone I got an update notification that HTC had a software update so that the battery would fully charge. The next day it was 100%. As far as battery life, I think its very good. On my optimus v I would use up the battery before the end of the day but with the htc one v, I am able to get about 1.5 days out of the battery. And I am not one to use my phone lightly, I usually am texting, on apps, or on the phone. It has never frozen on me and it has never turned off suddenly. The camera is pretty amazing compared to many other prepaid phones' cameras. I'm not planning on going into detail, I just wanted to clear up about the battery problem and that the phone overall is very good. Probably one of my favorite prepaid phones.

HTC A9192 Inspire 4G Unlocked Phone Deals

I had read all the negative reviews for this phone but the good ones out weighed the bad so I decided to give it a go. The unit I was sent was defective out of the box and I remembered all the people advising against it. I contacted amazon and they immediately sent out a new phone and gave me a ups label to return the defective one @ no extra cost. The second phone has been working perfectly and amazon's superior customer service took some of the sting off of getting a non working unit the first time. On an additional note, all those warnings of poor battery life, I've gotten the battery so far to go 36 to 40 hours btwn charges. over all it has been worth the price, just be sure to buy from amazon directly as you will then have the their guaranty backing you up.

I always thought that iPhone is top of the game - I mean, Apple products usually are, right?

Well, I was looking for a gift for my wife's birthday and I really didn't like price of unlocked iPhone. I'm not US citizen so I can't get it through contract, so my only option was to buy it for full price and lets be honest - it's greatly exaggerated. So, I opted to instead switch to Android phone. Woooooooooow! Hello thar! :)

It took me awhile to choose which phone to buy and in the end, Inspire won with it's easily affordable price. Seriously, you can buy 2 of these for a price of 1 iPhone! And that is actually what I did - I bought one, used it for a week and went back to Amazon to order another one for my wife as the 1st one is staying with me.

Lets be honest, though - phone is not perfect. Yeah, battery could be stronger (get yourself 1600 mAh or stronger one for roughly $10), software could be slightly more polished but in all honesty, this is a 5 star phone.

PROs:

* HUGE screen! And with high resolution, wow!
* Easy to customize (software and hardware [i.e. stronger battery]). Take that, iPhone!
* PRICE! Did I mention that you can buy 2 of these for the price of 1 iPhone? Seriously? Steve, you've been awesome guy, may you rest in peace, but your products have been greatly overpriced.
* 8 MP camera! (not the best quality but surprisingly good)

CONs:

* Software could be slightly better. It does have some weird stuff going on, but nothing to tarnish this phone's great rep.
* BIG! Seriously, forget about carrying it in your pocket. This is mini tablet, I kid you not. I still love it. :)

For me, this is easy decision - this phone trumps anything else in the market when it comes to price/specs ratio. Yeah I know, everybody wants iPhone 4s, Samsung Galaxy S2 etc, but seriously, they can't really offer you much more considering huge price gap between them and this phone.

I know I bought 2 for reason. Trust me, this phone rocks.

Overall I am very pleased with this phone. I purchased an HTC phone because I had the HTC Incredible and loved it and I wanted to stay with the same user interface. The only reason I purchased a new phone is that I am leaving Verizon and going to Straight Talk and they require a GSM phone.

There have been some reviews indicating that this phone does not work with prepaid carriers but my experience setting this up with Straight Talk has been flawless. You just need to make sure that you purchase an ATT SIM card from Straight Talk's website (Straight Talk uses ATT's towers for this and most other phones). And overall I am also very pleased with Straight Talk both on price and coverage.

I have also read some reviews, both on Amazon and other websites, that indicate the HTC Inspire has poor reception. At first I thought the same thing. But then I realized that the antenna for this phone is actually part of the SIM card cover. I don't know why they did this but if you are having reception issues make sure that the SIM card cover (bottom of phone) is securely and tightly fitted onto the phone. In addition you may need to clean the 2 copper electrodes on the cover and the phone to ensure that you have a good connection.

The only reason for a 4 instead of a 5 star is that the manufacturer's box that this phone came in was not in new condition. It had been opened and not handled with care. I assume they have to open the box to "unlock" it from ATT but the box looks to be a year old and dropped a few times. In addition the 8GB SD card was not included as advertised. Not a huge deal for me since they only cost $6 and I had already planned to buy a 16 GB but I wanted to mention this.

Overall I am very pleased with my HTC Inspire. Amazon had excellent and fast delivery as always (fulfilled by Amazon). I would recommend this phone to anyone looking for an unlocked GSM phone for use with Straight Talk or other potential prepaid (better value) services.

Ultra Thin 0.6 mm Lightweight Metal Frame Bumper Case Cover for HTC One M7 Deals

This review is from: EK For HTC ONE M7 Aluminum Metal Bumper Case Frame Luxury 0.6mm Metal Ultra Thin Slim Cover Hard Alloy (SILVER) (Misc.)
I got the this bumper In a pretty fair amount of time, but the quality of the product is not the best. When I put it on my phone it would line up correctly with the volume button and that made it extremely difficult to set ringers and volume control. In addition to that the headphone jack at the top of the phone is not made wide enough to fit a headphone/ aux cable into the phone properly. It looked cool on the site, but I wouldn't buy another one at all!!

Fits perfectly and looks great. But my normally strong connections drop down to nearly unusable levels. That includes Bluetooth connections, wifi, and data/cellular. If it was easier to remove on the fly, that wouldn't be such a.big deal, but since I don't carry an eyeglass screwdriver around all of the time, it's a bit frustrating.

5 star looks, 5 star quality, 2 stars for impact on phone function.

Sprint HTC Evo Shift 4g Smart Phone Deals

This is hands down the best phone that I have ever had (and I have had A LOT), even better than the iPhone. I love the Android system, it is so much more user friendly that Apple iOS.

The Shift is a compact phone, not as big as it's sister Evo models, but great things come in smaller packages. The slide out QWERTY keyboard is a great feature, you do not see them on many Smartphones. I cannot type on the touchscreen, so this got me really excited.

The processor is FAST. Not once has this phone frozen on me, the programs start up quickly, and don't use a huge amount of memory.

Netflix streams beautifully, no pauses or buffering, just straight HD streaming.

The screen is bright and beautifully clear.

I have had no issues at all with call clarity, dropped calls, or anything.

I think the only thing that is a con about this phone is that like all smartphones, battery life leaves something to be desired, but that is common for all phones these days.

I love this phone, and would highly recommend to anyone.

This is the second HTC EVO Shift 4G that I have owned. In my opinion it is the best phone HTC has to offer. You get the convenience of a touch screen, but for those who like a querty keyboard it also provides that. Keep up the good work HTC.

I received the phone within a week. It was packaged well when I received it by the seller. It came with the phone and the (home) charger.I was kind of expecting the phone guide book and memory card but since it's used I didn't mind. The phone is brand new and in excellent condition. It's performance is awesome. It's fast and very easy to use if you're use to the Android system. The sliding mechanism is kind of hard to use to get to the keyboard but I figured after many times of sliding the keyboard out it will begin to loosen a little. Overall this was a very great experience and I would recommend this seller and phone to anyone.

I9220(N9000) 5.0" Capacitive Android 4.0 Dual SIM Smart Phone With 8GB ROM Deals

By Ken Farrar (Fayetteville AR)
This review is from: I9220(N9000) 5.0" Capacitive Android 4.0 Dual SIM Smart Phone With 8GB ROM (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This phone was a risk/faith buy. I scoured reviews to try and make a best guess on this order. I made the leap and about 2 and a half weeks later found out if there was a pay off. Phone worked fine. Very little set up. It works fine with ATT and I have read it will work with any "sim card" carrier. I have owned this phone for over three months and put it through some test.

The cover it comes with is very useful and I prefer it over any case. Samsung cases do not fit because the buttons are slightly different and do not align. I use mine mostly for talking some texting and a lot of apps. I tend to play one game at a time so I haven't really tested the capacity of its memory. I don't use it as an MP3 player so I cannot comment on its music playback.

What it does do is work. It works fine as a phone. Works fine as a text device. Works fine playing apps. I have had it lock up on me four or five times loading an app. A simple restart worked fine. I have found that powering down once in a while keeps its speed up. I might add that my old Samsung phone locked up a lot more frequently under less stress. Speaking of reboot, it will load up from a restart very quickly compared to my old smart phone.

YouTube works fine, as does Netflix. The camera works good in well lit situations. The flash is pointless as it is weak and low light photos will not turn out good. Spring for a real camera if you want to take a lot of pics worth printing. If your just into facebook selfies and occasional snapshots with no editing this will work fine. The front facing camera works as expected for a 1.3mp, grainy low quality. But that's to be expected. Video recording works same as the camera and it picks up audio well. The speaker is good also, as long as there isn't too much background noise.

The headphone jack is an odd size so you'll have to pick up a spare at Radio Shack or special order it here. It has a longer plug. The phones that came with it are adequate. If your considering this phone you likely don't own "Beats". Besides watching a movie on a 5" screen doesn't require the highest sound quality. The screen display works fine. Video playback is smooth and works well. The clarity is better than I expected and on par with with my Samsung. I haven't had any screen issues.

The phone feels very solid, it has good weight and no part really feels "cheap" or "poorly made" with the exception of the cover I'm using. It is a combination: back and flip over cover. It seems cheap, but has lasted three months with no damage. So despite the "feel" it is holding up better than expected.

Overall I am extremely pleased with this purchase. There are some odd quirks to it. Spell check in texting says everything is wrong. I haven't cared enough to see if there is a way to fix it. I have added most words to the dictionary over time, so I only occasionally get a red line now. Further it comes with two batteries, but no way to charge the second one or store it. So i'm not really sure of the purpose. I'll hang on to it in case the first battery fails it is nice to know it's there. Also the GPS on this thing is pretty lousy. It doesn't pick up my location unless I'm outside. And by outside I mean with nothing over my head, trees, car roof, porch, clouds... I don't use it for driving though. I'd recommend purchasing a real GPS for driving putting it on the dash gives it a spotty signal. WIFI signal detection is good. It picks up my signal throughout my house. Although my house is small I have brick walls between rooms and signal strength is fine throughout.

*** SD card slot works fine I forgot to mention that. Also this phone has a feature I've not noticed on any phone I have had before. You can record phone conversations by pushing the menu button during a connected call. It gives you the option to start and stop recording. People also comment on the size of it, a lot. . . That always makes me smile. I plan on buying my son one also.

This is not a name brand phone, but works better than I thought it would and meets my needs beyond my expectations. Its performance suits my needs and after three months continues to perform as well as the day I opened it. There are a lot of negative reviews, perhaps they got a dud, or were expecting an iphone mistakenly shipped to them. I have seen some tech heads spout off some of this phones short comings, but I use it for four things, A phone, Texting, a few apps and occasional browsing. For these things it works fine.

Phone was as described. Works well on the T-Mobile 3 G network. Have used it for two days now with no issues.
Was concerned by one review about the headphone jack but I have had no issues using headphones.
Device is quick and responsive.
Works well with Wi-Fi too.
Long battery life.
This is my first unlocked cell phone and if this one holds up will never go back to a locked phone.

Day four with this phone and its still working just fine. No complaints. 12/29/12

Feb. 1-2013; Phone is still working great. Have had no issues on the T-mobile network.

First let me say Amazon is Awesome!! I bought this phone from USA Wholesalers. But it was fulfilled by Amazon so I got it delivered to me in two days!! The color I got was white and I love it. I was kind of scared because there were so many good reviews on it. So, in the back of my mind I was like this all cant be real. But guys I did my research. I looked up reviews, watched youtube videos and all. After about a week of research I went ahead and bought this phone. I am sooooo happy I did. I took out my SIM card from my At&t "unsmartphone" and popped it into the STAR in about a minute it saw that it was an At&t SIM and BOOM!! Everything was working!!! And I mean everything So now I have a "Note"(guys it look just like it and that's what EVERYONE thinks it is) Smartphone. All prepaid for 50.00 a month(plus tax depending on where u live). And everyone else I know who wasn't as smart as all of us(that is if you buy the phone) is paying 100.00 or more for a Smartphone plan. And under contract, worrying about going over minutes, texts, and data. I don't have to worry about any of that, pay way less than them, AND my phone is the COOLEST ever!!! Lol. Just a little of what it does:

In minutes I downloaded Skype, Facebook, Mp3 music downloaded, about 10 songs. ALL OF IT WORKS!

When my teenage niece and nephew saw my phone (15 & 16, u know teenagers know about phones) they thought it was a "Note" and loved the screen and size. While I was visiting they had my phone the entire time. Taking pictures with the front and back camera. Downloading cool games for me, like fruit ninja(love that Geico commercial..lol) and temple run, etc. They didn't want me to go Bc they loved my phone..lol(and they both have Driod phone by Verizon).

The only small "con" I can say right now is the battery doesn't last as long as a non smartphone. But it does last pretty good taking in consideration I've been playing with it all day on and off.Listening to music, downloading songs, on facebook, texting, making calls, etc. After all that its just a little below half full. I started using it this morning full force so its been about 10hours. So u can be the judge on that. Its pretty cool with me. I'm going to go buy a car charger so when I use turn-by-turn navigation, I won't have to worry about my battery dying. And it comes with two batteries anyway. So I am good!! So good luck guys I hope my review helps you in your journey for an Awesome phone!! Do your research, don't rush if you're not sure. But if you're like me after you're research you will be back, and buy this phone!! I don't think you will regret it. I know I am loving it right now!! It's a very good choice!!! Happy Hunting!!!

HTC HD2 Windows 3G Wi-Fi GPS Cell Phone | T-Mobile Deals

This phone is great, although their are some cut backs, its good does what a phone should do, the texting is easy, has a new feature where you can drag on the screen and it goes along with what your aiming for, pretty neat, still getting the feel for now, but will update the review if i ever have problems, but for now, the 6.5 on hd is the best possible phone u can have, and you say wow, look at that screen, why get a iphone, when you can have so many more apps on a HD2, and have a cheaper bill with t-mobile, financing + no contract = best price ever :D.

Edit 3/27/10: Phone is top notch, lasts a full day+ at full charge running more then 5+ apps, quality of picture, sound, camera and video is awesome. Thought i would never get use to not having a real keyboard lol, but the hd2 flexibility with both the little on screen one and the side keyboard works great, it will take you a day or two to get use to it, haven't found any flaws yet, except i forget to close a lot of apps lol, (drains the battery faster) so much to do :D.

Abe123 was fantastic, delivered HD2 quickly, and it works great as expected. Having said that, my thoughts about Microsoft's newer Win 7 phones is not so favorable; which is why after using the HD7 for a week, I opted to buy an HTC HD2.

I have used HTC Touch Pro 2 for couple years. As a business person I keep my customer base and contacts (4,100+) on my phone synchronized with computer using ActivSync. Tried the HD7 but Microsoft has abandoned the average business user / salesperson with the new Windows 7 format. We will not upload our customer base and massive number of contacts to a remote "cloud server" (it's a convoluted and tedious project), my customer base stays on my phone or computer period. HD7 and Windows 7 phones are probably great for teenagers or self-absorbed facebook and twitterers.....but not for Microsoft's base customers looking for a productivity tool. I'm very disappointed that Microsoft has taken this direction in their latest phone OS. What's next? getting rid of Microsoft Office all together in favor of all business people uploading our contracts, proposals, and invoices to Bill Gates directly for his stamp of approval?

Even after I finally got complete customer base (4100+ businesses) uploaded to Bill G's servers and then back downloaded to my phone, HD7 didn't (doesn't) allow you to sort contact file by company name, only personal contact name. I called HTC for fix, then Microsoft tech support.....both blamed the other and said now that it's on the market, neither would fix. I decided the only way to get a windows phone upgraded with ActivSync (not Win 7) was to buy unlocked HD2......ingrates at T-Mobile wouldn't even sell an HD2 anymore......but now with an unlocked version I can leave T-mobile if they keep up with that attitude.

I am writing this review after owning this phone for over two years. For starters...WinMo 6.5 sucked. No mincing words there. It was good for it's time.
Android is a whole 'nother Universe. Google search "HD2 Roms" or visit XDA Developers and see for yourself. Hundreds of developers are still cranking out dozens of new roms for this phone DAILY! This phone handles every OS thrown at it. Android, WindowsPhone7, Ubuntu, Windows 95, Windows 98, and XP and Play Station emulator.
It overclocks well and updates easily. Folks slamming this phone really have no idea what they are talking about. Buy it while you can...I own two. (My daily driver is my first one and is running an Android rom developed by Dorimanx.) And it handles 32GB Class 10 cards as well no sweat.
Again, YMMV...but lemons are few and far between. I love this phone and am not getting rid of it.

Anker® Astro2 8400mAh Portable Dual-Port External Battery Pack Power Bank Backup Charger with Built-In Flashlight for Smart phones Deals

Lots of devices need more than 1A to charge but there are very few battery packs that will put out that much current. In fact there are few 12V-5V converters that will do that. This battery pack has both the capacity and current output (2A) to charge pretty much anything that takes 5V - phones or tablets. I like the charge indicators and also the flashlight, for emergencies. The instructions were in both chinese and english - and they were adequate. I tried the battery on an iPhone, Kindle Fire and HP Touchpad. All charged correctly. Note that there are two USB outputs - one is limited to 0.6A and the other to 2A. Use the higher current for tablets.

Purchased the Anker external battery pack for my Samsung Skyrocket 4G LTE phone. The battery pack has already saved me on 2 occasions when I ran out of juice before the day was over! I even plugged up my ipad to it and i still haven't had to recharge it.

The only function of the device that can be improved is the flashlight. It is difficult to turn on and off..and slow to respond so I wind up pushing the on/off button multiple times not knowing if I'm pushing it hard enough. Once you get the flashlight to turn on, it is difficult to turn off and I end up having to push and hold on to the power button for a long time before it will respond. But, this is no big deal as I bought this battery to backup my phone, not use as a flashlight. I can always use the flashlight on my phone.

Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a portable battery pack for their power hungry smartphone!

Astro 2 external battery by Anker is one of the most powerful, versatile and reliable external batteries that I've come across. It has met or exceeded most of my expectations for such a device. I would strongly recommend it as a travel backup battery for most small electronic devices.

***** The Specs *****

This 8400 mAh battery has one DC 5V 1A input, and two outputs: DC 5V 0.6 A and DC 5V 1 A. The specified input charging time is 6-7 hours, and in my own test I've verified this to be an accurate estimate. The total number of rechargings is specified to be 500, but for obvious reasons I've not been able to test this claim.

***** Battery Capacity *****

At 8400 mAh, Astro2 is the largest-capacity external USB battery that I've ever tested. It has enough capacity to charge an iPhone or any similar small electronic device at least a couple of times. For a less power-hungry device (plain vanilla cell phone, Kindle, etc.) you can expect to get at least full charges from this battery. The two charging outputs have different charging rates, but either one will be able to charge your device in a two to three hours max. I have tested the charger with Morolar Razr, Motoroal Krzr, Amazon's third and fourth generation Kindle, iPhone 3G, iPhone 4S, and the first generation iPad. It performed more than adequately with all of those devices.

In order to get a good, intuitive feel for the charge capacity of this external battery I subjected it to the "iPad test." That is, I try charging my first generation iPad form the fully discharged state in order to see how much "juice" am I able to get. iPad is the largest electronic device that I can think of that would still qualify (barely) into the small-electronics category. (A MacBook Air would definitely be out.) The verdict: I was able to charge the iPad to about 56% capacity. This is, thus far, the most I've been able to get out of any such external battery. It took this battery about two hours to charge it to this level. This means that you'll be able to watch several movies on a trans-oceanic flight and still be able to use your iPad when you land.

***** Accessories *****

The battery comes with a built-in power adapter, two USB cords, one PSP charge adapter, one Nokia adapter, and a micro and mini USB adapters. This versatility of adapter heads means that you'll be able to use this battery with most cellphones and small electronic devices that are popular right now, but the owners of the iOS devices need to remember to use their own Apple USB cord. I wish that the battery came with a small carrying bag or a pouch to put all these accessories in, as I find myself losing these kinds of accessories more often than I care to admit. The battery has a small built-in led flashlight, but I personally don't have much of a need for such a thing.
***** Design and Build *****

The battery sports a slick cool design, and it looks and feels very modern. It doesn't feel cheep, and it will definitely not look out of place with the latest and coolest electronic gizmos. It's a bit on a heavy side, so I'd not recommend carrying it in your pocket or in a purse all the time.

***** The Bottom Line *****

If you are a frequent traveler and carry more than one small electronic device with you all the time, or tend to go on longer trips to places without an easy access to a wall outlet (camping, long flights) then this charger is a must for you. It will keep all of your devices charged for a reasonably long periods of time, and it will give you a peace of mind that you'll never be in a situation where you run out of power. Astro 2 battery is compact and durable, and it will serve well all of your portable charging needs.
